Byron Dobson is a community issues reporter at the Tallahassee Democrat and a member of the Democrat’s editorial board where he writes a Sunday column. Dobson has been at the Democrat for 24 years where he has worked as night city editor, city editor, assignments editor and metro editor before joining the Editorial Board in August 2010. Before joining the Democrat, he worked as a reporter, assistant city editor and city editor at the Boca Raton New, a former Knight-Ridder-owned daily newspaper in Boca Raton, Florida. He is a 1979 graduate in communications at Bowie State University in Bowie, Maryland. Additional educational experience includes a fellowship at the Maynard Institute for Journalism Education and appointments to the American Press Institute. He is married and lives in Tallahassee. Interests include music, art, community projects.
